Bo Huff Customs '61 Pontiac

I wanted to take more photos , but it was super hot and everyone wanted to walk in front of it. I would love to replicate this in scale. 2008 KKOA.

El Loco Gringo

This is the sickest '55 I have seen in a long time and photos don't even do it justice. I took these pics in 2008 at KKOA in Salina,KS. I ran into Bob Bleed from Austin Speed Shop in the model tent, I recognized him from the Mad Fabricator Society DVD's I have. I hope to make Salina this year, I need my fix!

El Matador

This is the car at KKOA in Salina, KS 2008. I can't get photos to work on facebook, so here ya go guys. Click to enlarge.

Rod & Custom "Pocket books" are back!

I was just at the local grocery getting some snackables and though I rarely look at the magazine racks these days, I saw this sticking out on the edge. I didn't hesitate to snag one up! Go get yours! This is the Annual 2011 issue. Thank you R&C for keeping it real all of these years!

If you don't know what the big deal is, they used to be around in the 50's and 60's by various titles. Here is an original November 1958 issue I have.
And for example sake...see a previous log showing the first Custom Rodder "pocket mag". Click the tag "magazines".

Refinished finally

This is a side by side of the same dresser. I grew up with this dresser in our home. It was mine when I was little, it was my dad's , then it was mine again in my teens, then it sat in my dad's garage...it's been around. When my great grandfather died in 1975, my dad and his sister we given permission to take whatever they wanted from his estate, before my grandmother auctioned it off.  My dad took this dresser, another dresser, couch, chair, ashtray stand and some miscellaneous items. It's all been in my family since then, other than the ashtray stand which my step mother still has. (chaps my hide, we aren't blood and she has stuff like that from my family history) .
My mom refinished the two dressers in the late 70's , so the left image is what it looked like until a couple months ago. She said it was real dark, almost black before she stripped it. That would be typical of the era and with age. I work at an antique mall and a dealer whom I became friends with did the work on this. His name is Bob Neville from Lincoln, NE.  He buys and refinishes dressers for a hobby to resell them. I admire his work and asked him to do this for me as it's been my goal to get all of the furniture restored from my dad's estate. (all great grandad's stuff) I think he did a beautiful job, it doesn't even look like the same dresser! Fun fact- my wife wanted me to "get rid of that cheap junky dresser, don't put it in my bedroom!".....guess where it sits now....and who uses it!

Flames

This is probably one of the most expensive and saught after marbles I own. It's a Christensen Agate "Flame". CAC marbles were only made during 1925-1933. The name comes from the flame lick pattern. I have yet to see another one like it on ebay or in books. There are similar ones that Grist's last book (RIP) depicted in the rear under Rarities. I contacted a very well known collector and dealer recently to get his opinion on the value. He sells marbles consistantly for others on consignment and gets upwards of a thousand dollars on many of his sales. I trust his word. He said it was worth between $150.00 to $300.00. Needless to say, I didn't pay that...I got this in a lot with others. If you pay attention to my blog, you will see I have a lot of interests. My focus on collecting anything is how cool I think it is...and many times value or rareness. You see, I don't want to hoard and die with the "most toys"...this and all I do is for my kids. They don't know it yet, but when I am gone they will inherit a very nice collection of model kits, marbles, toys, tools, knives, watches, jewelry, furniture and etc.. They can choose to sell it all or keep it in the family. I didn't get the luxury of inheritance, I had to make it a point that I wanted certain things from my Dad. I want my kids to know they inherited things, instead of having to force anyone to give them something. My kids will also inherit their family history, thanks to my Mom, Aunt, Cousins and others. I have a pretty healthy collection of old photos, articles and more containing all they would want to know of where they came from.

Beautiful glass balls

What? Yes, you are looking at marbles! I have been collecting marbles for about 6 months now and it's really hard to deny their beauty, especially when you learn how they were made, what companies made them, how old they are and much more. I only collect vintage marbles, the new stuff can be cool but it's just not the same. I am nostalgic in nearly everything I am interested in, so it's only natural to want vintage mibs! This photo was taken by "glasseye" of All About Marbles forum that I joined and have become an administrator of. The owner Kevin, needed some help and I have a history of building and running forums, so there I am.
What makes this photo so damn cool? It's for me, the lighting and the colors. He has some VERY nice and pricey marbles in this photo. Glasseye used a blacklight/spotlight/flashlight to center the focus on his Uranium enriched oxblood. This photo is book or magazine worthy. Would you think there is more than $1,000.00 worth the marbles in this picture? Now you might understand why it's fun to collect them....the HUNT IS ON.
